About British Life in Spain

Your guide to life in Spain – written by someone who made the move

British Life in Spain is a practical guide for British nationals living in, or planning to move to, Spain.

This site is written by an experienced British expat who has been living in Southern Spain for several years. Having navigated the post-Brexit visa process, Spanish banking, health insurance requirements, and the day-to-day realities of expat life first-hand, the goal is simple: to provide the honest, up-to-date information that was hard to find when I was planning my own move.

A lot of the information available online about moving to Spain is either out of date, written before Brexit changed the rules, or so generic that it is not actually useful. This site tries to be different: specific, practical, and written from lived experience.

What you will find here

We cover the five things British expats need most: visas and residency (NLV, Digital Nomad Visa, TIE, NIE), banking and money (Spanish accounts, currency transfer, mortgages), health insurance (visa-compliant policies, provider comparisons), daily life in Spain (cost of living, driving licences, schools, best regions), and tax and finance (Spanish tax residency, UK pensions, Beckham Law, Modelo 720).

A note on accuracy

Spanish visa rules, income thresholds and tax regulations change regularly. We do our best to keep every article current, but always verify requirements with the relevant Spanish authorities or a qualified professional before making decisions. Every article includes a note on when it was last reviewed.

If you spot something that needs updating, or have a question we have not covered, please get in touch.
